Gather your ingredients.

Before you start making your vegan matcha bubble tea, make sure you have all the necessary ingredients. You will need matcha powder, tapioca pearls, almond milk (or any other non-dairy milk of your choice), sweetener (such as agave syrup or maple syrup), and ice cubes. You can also add any additional toppings or flavors you prefer, such as fruit or boba pearls. Once you have everything ready, you're all set to start making your delicious vegan matcha bubble tea!

Brew the matcha tea.

In a small bowl, whisk together 1 tablespoon of Velicious matcha powder with 2 tablespoons of hot water until the powder is fully dissolved and the mixture becomes frothy. Add about 1/4 cup of warm water (about 80 degrees) to the mixture and stir to combine. You can adjust the amount of matcha powder and water based on your personal preference for the strength of the tea. Once the matcha tea is ready, set it aside to cool while you prepare the other ingredients.

Prepare the tapioca pearls.

To make your vegan matcha bubble tea complete, you'll need to prepare the tapioca pearls. Start by bringing a pot of water to a boil. Once the water is boiling, add the tapioca pearls and cook them according to the instructions on the package. Typically, this involves boiling the pearls for a certain amount of time and then letting them simmer for a bit longer. Once the pearls are cooked, drain them and rinse them with cold water to remove any excess starch. Your tapioca pearls are now ready to be added to your matcha bubble tea!

Make the simple syrup.

To sweeten your matcha bubble tea, you'll need to make a simple syrup. Start by combining equal parts water and sugar in a small saucepan. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the sugar has completely dissolved. Once the syrup has cooled, you can add it to your matcha bubble tea to taste. Adjust the amount of syrup based on your desired level of sweetness. Enjoy your homemade vegan matcha bubble tea!

Assemble your matcha bubble tea.

Now that you have all your ingredients prepared, it's time to assemble your matcha bubble tea. Start by adding a generous amount of ice cubes to a tall glass. Next, pour in your prepared matcha tea, leaving some room at the top for the toppings. You can add in your sweetener, choice of toppings such as coconut jelly, or fruit. We added vegan ice-cream to ours 😉. Finally, top it off with a splash of plant-based milk, and give it a good stir. Your vegan matcha bubble tea is now ready to be enjoyed!
